Una comunità rurale toscana di antico regime

Raggiolo in Casentino
  • Marco Bicchierai,

In a local history perspective that intertwines problematic analysis with reconstruction accessible even to non-specialists, the volume studies the economy, society, institutions of a rural community in the Tuscan Apennines. The community of Raggiolo is captured throughout a long period of time that from the final centuries of the Middle Ages continues until the end of the eighteenth century. In this way, a picture of the Casentino mountains is offered capturing, in the centuries-old intertwining of mountain economy, social equality, sharing of the management of the local administration and of the assets belonging to the community, one of the main reasons for the resistance to change that will mark the end of the ancient regime.
