Changes in posture during pregnancy lead to risks of low back pain (LBP) of mechanical origin which must be dealt with in the early stages in order to limit damage. The postural distortion and increase in weight are, however, transitory situations. After the birth, the strain persists due to the uncustomary posture maintained at length and the efforts due to the new tasks to take care of the baby. This monograph describes the biomechanical effects of the morphological changes prompting the operational choices made by Applied Human Movement Sciences to help women to retain good physical efficiency during and after pregnancy and to acquire information on postural education and primary and secondary prevention of spinal pain.
