Auser promotes a new culture of later life, builds opportunities for sociability and continuing education, valuing older people. Demographic changes are leading to an ageing society. The critical aspects for Auser are: institutional delays in harnessing the great energy of older adults; the shortcomings of Italian health system unable to provide effective responses to people living social, physical or non-self-sufficiency related frailties. In its 35 years of activity, Auser has promoted volunteers able to give value to ageing, showing that even after 65 years the degenerative process does not accelerate automatically if you build opportunities for sociability. In Abruzzo Auser with its 25 clubs, it deals with: cultural meetings – intergenerational relationships – continuing training – good ageing to give hope to the elderly and future to young people.
