David E. Alexander is Ministerial Contract Professor of Disaster Management at CESPRO, an interdisciplinary study centre at the University of Florence, Italy. He graduated with a BSc in geography and PhD in geomorphology at the University of London and taught natural hazards and disaster studies for 22 years at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Subsequently he was Professor of Disaster Management at two UK universities, before moving to Italy. His main research and teaching interests concern emergency planning, disaster management and civil protection. His most recent book is entitled Principles of Emergency Planning and Management.

Colin H. Davidson is Professor of Architecture in the Faculty of Environmental Design at the Université de Montréal (Canada) and Director of the IF Research Group. He was dean of the Faculty from 1975 to 1985. He teaches and conducts research in areas related to technological innovation and knowledge management. He is currently responsible for the masters program in project initiation and management. Prof. Davidson is an active member of CIB and president of Cibât – Montreal International Building Centre. He holds a master's degree from MIT. His special interests lie in organizational design, procurement, technology transfer, information sciences and the building sector.

Andrew P. Fox is Senior Lecturer in Engineering Management at Coventry University
Coventry Centre for Disaster Management, Coventry University, UK. He is a civil engineer by profession. Prior to joining Coventry University in 2001 he spent fourteen years working for a range of international government agencies, consultants and contractors. His experience of disaster relief and development engineering was gained from living and working in the UK, the Caribbean, the Middle East and Asia. His research interests include post-disaster reconstruction, resilience in planning systems, and flood risk planning in the UK.

Cassidy Johnson obtained a BA (Hons) in urban studies from Concordia University and an MArch from Mc Gill University. Her PhD dissertation, written in the Faculty of Environmental Design at the Université de Montréal, concerned temporary housing after disasters, with a focus on the Turkish earthquakes of 1999. Her research interests include post-disaster reconstruction, temporary housing, shelter systems and planning. She is currently Lecturer and Course Director for the MSc in Building and Urban Design in Development at University College London.

Gonzalo Lizarralde obtained his degree in architecture at Javeriana University, his MArch at McGill University and his PhD at the Université de Montréal, where his is part of the IF Research Group. He obtained post-doctorate experience at the University of Cape Town in the fields of housing and project management. He is currently a part-time lecturer at McGill University and member of the IF Research Group in the Faculty of Environmental Design at Montreal University. One of the founding members of i-Rec. Mr. Lizarralde studies the organisational aspects and the performance of reconstruction projects from the architectural and project management and project evaluation points of view. He has professional experience in design and construction.
