The issue of traffic noise pollution has played a primary role for several years in the study and research activities on the phenomena of road/vehicle interaction. The radical modification of the reference regulatory framework, both at the Italian and European level, has led the Technical Committee AIPCR TC4.2 “Interazione strada/veicolo” (Road/vehicle interaction) to form a specific Working Group for the preparation of this “Guida alla valutazione ed alla pianificazione degli interventi di risanamento acustico” (Guide to evaluation and planning of interventions for the reduction of noise pollution). The aim of the volume is to provide to the user who is not expert in environmental acoustics a clear and practical guide on the subject of the evaluation and planning of acoustic interventions against noise pollution, in line with the national regulatory guidelines (Italian D.M. 29 novembre, 2000) and the European guidelines (Directive 2002/49/EC), according to which the institutions managing public services and transport infrastructures must prepare plans for containing and reducing noise.
