This volume challenges the rigidity of traditional chronological divisions to embrace a more fluid vision of history. Arising from the 2023 Conference of the PhD Program in Historical Studies (University of Florence and Siena), the present work employs the categories of circulation, connection, perception, and limitation as analytical lenses to examine diachronic phenomena spanning from antiquity to the contemporary era. Through the study of moving ideas and objects, a multi-vocal narrative emerges, centering human interaction and the resignification of identity. The convergence of diverse disciplinary specialisms creates a critical laboratory that explores the persistence of exchange and control dynamics, thereby restoring diachronic depth to History, understood as a living and constantly evolving process.
