This chapter analyses the impact of the Reform on the composition of local ruling classes in three Mugello communities (Barberino, Borgo San Lorenzo, Scarperia). Despite documentary gaps, it reconstructs the continuities and ruptures within the local elites, which varied from one community to another. The massive entry of religious entities and new individuals into the new magistracies represents a discontinuity tempered by the absorption, rather than the exclusion, of the old oligarchies.
