Since 2013, the Signal Processing and Communications Laboratory (LESC) at the University of Florence has researched positioning technologies for location-based services. Activities include cooperative GPS, inertial navigation, pedestrian dead-reckoning, and ultra-wideband (UWB) localization. A UWB system was developed for sports tracking, using anchors around a futsal field and a wearable tag to achieve high-accuracy player positioning.
