This chapter presents the interdisciplinary methodological architecture of the research and discusses its implications. It details the methods and sources used to address the research questions, including documentary analysis of primary and secondary sources, semi-structured elite interviews, institutional fieldwork and direct observations. The chapter also explains the criteria guiding the selection of the case studies and reflects on the advantages and limitations of the adopted research strategy.
