Operational Research at the University of Florence grew from an almost unknown discipline in the early 1990s into a recognized academic and research field. Through new courses, dedicated faculty, and the Global Optimization Laboratory, it expanded teaching, research, and industry collaborations. The group developed applications in healthcare, logistics, energy, and AI, trained many students and researchers, and strengthened links with companies and institutions.
