This contribution presents the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Post-graduate Course “La Scuola in Ospedale. Formare professionisti dell’educazione, della scuola, della cura”, designed within the long-standing collaboration between the University of Florence and the university hospital “Azienda Ospedaliera Universitaria Meyer” (AOU Meyer). The text outlines the historical, pedagogical, and institutional foundations of hospital schooling in Italy, highlighting the central role of educational care, relational pedagogy, and organizational competence in complex pediatric contexts. It illustrates the innovative internship model developed at Meyer, the structure and aims of the three-year training course, and the multidimensional evaluation process based on national quality indicators. Findings show high levels of participant satisfaction, a strong impact on professional identity, and the emergence of a reflective, community-based approach that integrates educational, clinical, and organizational perspectives. The course’s evolution towards a first-level Master’s program is discussed as a natural continuation of a consolidated and transformative educational ecosystem.
