The design concept of the villa offers a cue for casting light on ideas, theoretical premises and programmatic statements by authoritative interpreters of the modern architecture. La villa del Novecento proposes an analysis that dwells on the varying significance of the environmental context, the compositional details that have a particular influence on the overall results, and on construction aspects both experimental and borrowed from tradition. The investigation also focuses the role of the client, seeking to grasp the most significant variations in the models of domestic life. Finally, there is also an overview of the contribution made to the divulgation of this subject in the course of the century by literature, photography and the cinema.
