Information for Authors

Firenze University Press will gladly take publishing proposals into consideration. FUP publishes monographs, edited volumes, textbooks, critical editions of original works and scientific databases.

FUP is therefore willing to consider:

• scholarly monographs targeted at academics and researchers, based on original research and thus meant to contribute significantly to the research in specific area(s) of interest;
• edited volumes with a unifying focus and an introduction of the editors, defining the scope of the whole series;
• textbooks serving as the main texts of university courses, addressed to students with little expertise in a specific topic;
• critical editions of original works based on well-documented and accurate comparative studies between manuscripts and printed texts;
• scientific databases and data collections, generally accessed electronically from a computer system (web-based) and related to several research fields.

Before submitting a proposal, authors can browse the lists of both Book Series and Scientific Boards to gain further information about the FUP editorial purposes.

All interested authors are invited to contact the FUP Executive Director to submit a publishing proposal. After an editorial, technical and economic assessment, the Executive Director is charged of sending the publishing proposal and the related materials to the FUP Editorial Board, responsible of the peer review process. Peer review is an important element of the FUP evaluation chain. Before acceptance for publication, all books are approved by the FUP Editorial Board after a first evaluation by external referees (Peer review Policy).

To submit a publishing proposal of series, monographs, edited volumes, textbooks, critical editions and scientific databases, please contact the FUP Executive Director by email. Together with the manuscript of the book, please fill and send by email the following form:

FUP Scientific Board will notify authors of the selection outcomes within two months after transmission of the publishing proposal.
