UdA University Press

UdA University Press is the publishing arm through which the “Gabriele d’Annunzio” University of Chieti-Pescara – founded in 1965 as the “Free University of Abruzzo” before becoming a state university in 1982 – disseminates its scholarly work in open access at both national and international level. With over 25,000 students and sixteen departments across the Chieti and Pescara campuses, this vibrant, pluralistic university embraces a genuinely multidisciplinary approach, firmly rooted in the heart of Abruzzo while actively engaging with the global scientific community.

For UdA, open access is a key element of its open science strategy, consistent with Italian and European guidelines: research produced at the “Gabriele d’Annunzio” University must be freely accessible to everyone, without financial barriers for either authors or readers. As a result, UdA University Press adopts a Diamond Open Access model – the most equitable form of OA, with no costs for anyone, within a project that reinforces the quality and competitiveness of Italian research.

Through series dedicated to a range of academic fields, it promotes the dissemination of scholarly work by lecturers and researchers – with particular focus on early-career academics – while contributing to teaching and advancing the university’s wider societal mission to maximise the visibility and impact of knowledge.
