Wikidata and Research: A Decadal View

  • Daniel Mietchen

The breadth, depth and diversity of interactions between the research ecosystem and the ecosystem around Wikidata have evolved considerably over the years. These interactions include, e.g., research about Wikidata and Wikibase matters as well as research-related content, infrastructure or activities with a Wikidata or Wikibase component. This contribution is intended for researchers of any background as well as science communicators and other stakeholders in the research landscape. It aims to highlights key facets of these interactions and their evolution, considering developments within and beyond both ecosystems, such as the trends towards increased openness in research workflows or towards using Wikibase as a platform for collaborative and multilingual curation of structured data.
