Cecchi reconstructs Sweezy’s theoretical transition in the post-World War II period: Domar’s critique of the 1942 appendix played a pivotal role in the shift from underconsumption theory to the theory of overaccumulation. Military spending emerges as the primary counter-tendency—the principal means of absorbing surplus. Sweezy both appreciates and critiques Steindl’s contribution.
