The study analyzes the play Il nuovo convitato di pietra (1789) of Francesco Cerlone, a popular and irreverent rewriting of the Don Juan myth, examining its complex linguistic architecture. The analysis highlights Cerlone’s use of a refined plurilingualism as a tool for social and theatrical characterization.
