This chapter aims to reconstruct the notion of social rights from a historical perspective that is not only Eurocentric, seeking to show how the shared concerns between Europe and the Americas already reflected, at the beginning of the 20th century, a circulation of ideas that would lead to a new stage of Western constitutionalism, particularly with regard to imposing obligations on state power.
