Research collaboration between Baker Hughes (Nuovo Pignone) and the University of Florence focuses on turbomachinery equipped with Active Magnetic Bearings (AMB). The work aims to improve performance and fault diagnosis by developing automatic tuning methods for advanced PID controllers and model identification techniques. In addition, convolutional neural networks are used to detect and classify faults through image-based analysis of electrical signal patterns.
