The contribution of jurists to the foundation of the Italian democratic state was continous both in the preparatory phase following the Liberation, both in the constituent process which gave birth to the Democratic and Republican Constitution. In the Constituent Assembly important jurists actively participated first in the Commission of Seventy-Five which prepared the draft Constitution, then to the assembly debate aimed at the approval of a Constitution shared in its fundamental principles.
