This chapter examines the ECtHR's case-law on domestic and gender-based violence involving Italy as respondent. It focuses on the judgments delivered between 2017 and 2025. The analysis is framed by the 2011 Istanbul Convention, which operates as an interpretive benchmark for defining States’ positive obligations under the ECHR, and by the monitoring activity of the GREVIO.
