Smart mobility and autonomous driving rely on real-time vehicle communication, supported by emerging 5G and future 6G networks. The University of Florence has long contributed to vehicular communication technologies, notably through the development of the Telepass electronic toll system based on DSRC. Collaboration with ATECH led to a joint laboratory focused on vehicle-to-infrastructure communication and smart city mobility solutions.
