Giovanni Soda was a pioneer of artificial intelligence research in Tuscany and among the first in Italy to study neural networks in the 1980s. He founded the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory at the University of Florence and helped establish the Italian Association for Artificial Intelligence. A dedicated educator, he mentored generations of students and contributed significantly to the development of computer engineering education.
