It seems that in these readings, even where the voices of specialist literary scholars are present, Dante has taken on the role of interlocutor in an intimate dialogue from which emerge different, perhaps better, reinterpretations of the readers’ own identities because, from the encounter with the world of Dante, possible alternatives to current conditions emerge.
