The methodological organisation of the study, which reports data and references on Neapolitan villas of the Early Modern in their relative contexts – examined in their original condition, current condition and throughout history – with the support of the planned georeferenced digital system of analytical data sheets on the villas, has already produced significant results. The contribution illustrates the renewed interpretation of the villas of Iacopo Sannazaro, Giovanni Pontano and Paolo Tolosa, revealing their layout, structure and material traces, rediscovered in the context of the real city. In this way, the recovery of memory is intertwined with the forms of the actual city, recognising qualities and characteristics of urban places from the interpretation of these pre-existing structures.
