The research presented here proposes the application of Wikidata for the semantic modelling of the patronage of the Buonaccorsi family of Macerata, a prominent dynasty of the Papal State during the 17th and 18th centuries. Through a systematic analysis of the sources, a dataset of over 400 family-related entities was structured and annotated with ontologically consistent properties. The interconnected data allow for a diachronic and relational reading of art-historical dynamics. Precise referencing of statements increases the scientific reliability of the model, facilitating data reuse. The study shows how Wikidata and Linked Open Data provide an effective infrastructure for the integration, dissemination and analysis of complex knowledge in the humanities.
