In the transitional period between the Resistance and the birth of the Republic, beyond the studies dedicated to their most notable figures, female socialist activists remain understudied. This underestimation has several reasons: in addition to the fragmentary nature of sources, internal divisions, and the difficult collaboration with the UDI, the Socialist Party lacked a coherent and unified project on female citizenship, both from its leadership and from its women's group, where individual figures often clashed. This essay aims to reconstruct the contribution of female socialists to the definition of Italian female citizenship between the final phase of the Resistance and their first experiences of representation, from the National Consulta to the first two legislatures.
