The essay introduces the topic of paid care work; presenting the research conducted in the framework of the project CARE4CARE – We care for those who care funded by the European Commission within the Horizon Europe Programme. Moving from a reconstruction of the philosophical and sociological debate underlying the research; the author frames paid care work within the framework of European social policies and highlights the contribution of the research to improving conditions for workers in the sector.
