The property of the Poor Clares of St. Clare was belonged around 1535 to Petraccone Caracciolo di Martina, and purchased in 1547 by Pietro Antonio, Prince of Bisignano. Inherited by his son Bernardino and undergoing various improvements until the confiscation of his assets at the end of the century, in 1622 it was assigned to Michele Orsini, Duke of Gravina, and inherited after his death in 1527 by his sister Felice Maria. In 1547, the duchess donated the villa to the Padri Lucchesi della Madre di Dio to transform into a novitiate, with the suppression of the Order in 1808, the building was designated for public use and stripped of its original decorations. Sold after Italian unification, it was converted into a hotel, and later into a condominium.
