Aesopian Subjects in Russian Popular Prints. The article analyses 18th century Russian popular prints that depict Aesopian motifs; the information on the textual and iconographic sources of the prints is summarized and clarified. The following motifs are considered: Why the Mother Taught Her Son Badly, The Fox and the Crane, The Fox and the Dolls, The Fox and the Grapes, The Old Man and Death; another topic is the iconography of the chapbook The Life of Aesop. For the first time, the print The Gnat and the Lion (which was not included in D.A. Rovinskii’s catalog) is introduced into scientific circulation and reproduced; the graphic and textual parts of this print are analyzed.
