This book addresses the development of the thought of Carnap, from his adherence to early Neopositivism through to his more mature reflections, identified here in the essay Empiricism, Semantics and Ontology. The idea is to identify, within his studies on logic, semantics and inductive logic, the philosophical implications that underpin them, and the conflictual tensions characterising the different phases of Carnap's thought.
The appendix proposes Ernesto Palombi's translation of Carnap's article Über Protokollsätze, not previously translated into Italian, complete with meticulous commentary. The article represents a historically important moment, in terms both of the development of Carnap's thought and of the epistemological debate in general.
