This paper is an introduction to the volume, that collects the contributions presented at the 2019 annual Conference of the Associazione Italiana per la Terminologia (Ass.I.Term). The 2019 annual Conference of Ass.I.Term was an important moment of reflection on the dialogue between terminology and lexicography and on the reasons for the different types of glossaries, thesauri, dictionaries and vocabularies in the field of terminology and on the variability of users of terminology.
