La chiave per leggere la crisi. Il contesto di produzione del textus translationis di san Nicola a Bari, di Niceforo

  • Nicolò Galluzzi

This paper aims to clarify the production context of the textus written in Bari by Nicephorus, about the translation of the relics of St. Nicholas from Myra (Turkey) to Bari. Through the study of narrative and textual choices and the manuscript tradition, it is possible to better define the relationship between text and context, and to understand what role Nicephorus’ text plays in the strategies of the urban aristocracy for the control of the new church. In this way, we can frame the rhythms, protagonists and changes in the political structures that characterize the phase of crisis, that Bari faces the transition from Byzantine to Norman rule.
