The Villa della Riccia in Capodimonte, an elegant suburban residence located on the Miradois hill, has been known since the 19th century as the perfect spot for observing the sky, first becoming the Royal Observatory and then the Astronomical Observatory in the 20th century. However, behind its neoclassical facade overlooking the quarters of Vergini and Sanità below, lies a complex historical stratification, whose roots date back to the second half of the fifteenth century. This study develves into the fragmented events that characterised this ‹‹luogo di delizia, d’ottimo clima, e di spasso›› between the 16th and 18th centuries, beloved by both the nobility and the emerging bourgeoisie, reconstructing the entire network of transfer of property within its complex history.
