The rise of microprocessors in the 1970s enabled the development of early microcomputers worldwide. In Florence, collaboration between the University of Florence and the company General Processor led to innovative systems such as the ChildZ and the Model T, used mainly for business applications. These projects showed the potential of small computers before the global dominance of the IBM Personal Computer in the early 1980s.
