Enrico Damiani, known as the famous Slavist, specialized in Bulgarian and Polish literature with the publication (1938) in the form of an essay Teatr Pirandella (The Theatre of Pirandello) in the Italian-Polish magazine Italia-Polonia which was edited in Warsaw for 5 years (1935-1939) he also proves to be a great connoisseur of Italian literature. The extensive essay dedicated to an educated audience clarifies some concepts of Pirandello’s philosophy of theatre, reports concrete examples of theatrical pieces whose fragments are cited in the Polish translation. Damiani not only presents himself as a great literary scholar, but as a very good translator with a particular gift of perfectly reproducing Pirandello’s language in Polish.
